Humans can't help judging a book by its cover.
Just as people easily judge things or people by their out look, same thing goes with your brand.
When people see a man in dirty and tattered clothes, they easily assume that he is poor.
He could be an actor trying to get into a role he is working on, or they could be right and he's just a really poor guy.
The thing is, his out look is the reason people made such assumptions towards him.
Same thing with your logo and your brand.
An amateur and little thought-out logo will always make people assume that your business is not creative, not professional, mediocre, and everything that you could say about a business that isn't encouraging.
People can completely write you off because of an unprofessional (ugly) logo, just as the can easily gain keen interest in what you have to offer, just because your logo has a certain important or interesting detail.
A logo can help you do a vast majority of your marketing with you spending minimally on things like copywriting.
A logo makes you identifiable in a crowd of displayed brands making similar offers.
A logo is good for your brand, but a professional and well thought out logo is simply just perfect because having people happily debate on a beautiful looking item will always yield better results when being compared with the worst.
They will both give attention, yet only one is positive.
